The long-awaited Dream Water Supply Project-I in Rawalpindi has moved a step closer to execution after completing the technical evaluation phase for bids submitted by six competing companies.
According to officials, the technical assessment process has been finalized, and the evaluation report has been sent to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for review and approval. The two contract packages up for bidding have a combined estimated value of Rs. 20.4 billion.
With the technical stage completed, authorities will now proceed to open the financial bids of companies that successfully met the qualification requirements. Officials expect the contracts to be awarded within the next month.
The project will be implemented through joint ventures involving both local and international firms to ensure the necessary technical expertise and project delivery capacity.
Once completed, the scheme is expected to significantly improve water availability in Rawalpindi by adding 12 million gallons per day (MGD) from Chahan Dam. An additional 5 MGD will be supplied from Rawal Dam and Khanpur Dam.
The project is scheduled for completion by December 2027 and is considered a major step toward strengthening Rawalpindi’s water infrastructure, addressing growing demand, and improving long-term water security for residents.
