Rawalpindi’s Infrastructure Project’s Construction Cost Increased
Rawalpindi: On the 30th of December, the government altered market rates for building materials, resulting in a 20-25% increase in the development costs of three key infrastructure projects.
Katcheri Chowk, Rawalpindi Ring Road, and Leh Expressway and Flood Channel are the revised infrastructure projects with development budgets.

The Project Concept-1 (PC-I) of the Katcheri Chowk redevelopment project was approved at an approximate cost of PKR 3.7 billion, according to the sources. This will increase building costs to nearly 4 billion Pakistani rupees. Construction costs for the Rawalpindi Ring Road are projected to rise from PKR 23 billion to PKR 27 billion. The cost of the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel is expected to increase by PKR 5 billion, from PKR 105 billion to PKR 110 billion.

Given the rise in material costs, a Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) official hinted at the possibility that. Mr. Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, chairman of the RDA, revealed that the department is revising the PC-I of the Katcheri Chowk Remodeling project, which would be approved in January. He maintained that the construction of a two-story flyover at Katcheri Chowk is required to alleviate Rawalpindi’s traffic problems.
