RDA Approves Nullah LEH’s Width Reduction
Rawalpindi: According to news sources, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) approved the narrowing of the Nullah Leh flood channel from 35-50 meters to 25-35 meters.

The reduction in width will reduce the project’s land acquisition requirement from 1,289 Kanals to 700 Kanals. According to the revised Project Concept-1 (PC-1) approved by the RDA, Nespak suggested limiting the project’s breadth in order to reduce its cost by PKR 25 billion.
The decision to lower breadth was made during the 57th meeting of the RDA governing body, and the PC-1 will receive final approval at the next meeting of the Central Working Development Party (CDWP).

The Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Board has authorized the project. Likewise, the project has been submitted for approval to the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) board, after which tenders will be advertised.
At the discussion, it was said that the experts had raised concerns about limiting the breadth of the storm drain since it has the potential to hinder the project’s ability to handle flooding. However, the canal depth will be increased from 8 to 11 feet to resist monsoon floods.
