As the upcoming elections draw near, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is concentrating on a single big project, the Ring Road project.
The temporary Punjab government has set aside a Rs. 6 billion budget for the RDA, which will run from November to February. This financing, which would be allocated primarily for building activities, will supplement the Rs. 6 billion that the RDA has set aside for the project’s land procurement. The estimated overall cost of the Ring Road project is Rs. 33.7 billion, of which Rs. 6.7 billion is allocated for land acquisition and Rs. 27 billion for construction.
In addition, the RDA is spending Rs. 99 million renovating the 6th Road Metro Bus Station, a project that is not part of the yearly development plan. The Punjab Mass Transit Authority requested these repairs be made, and the government agreed to provide the funding.

The RDA has proposed more than five development schemes but has only been funded for the Ring Road project; as a result, it is currently working on its development projects. Concurrently, the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa)-supervised government has set aside Rs. 1 million for four months to purchase land for a water supply project from Daducha Dam. The project, which has an overall budget of Rs. 900 million, intends to build a water delivery line from Daducha Dam to the garrison city and filtration units.
Moreover, two Wasa uplift programs totaling Rs. 19 million have been allotted. Of these, Rs. 18 million will be used to restore the sewerage system in Satellite Town and the surrounding districts as part of a more significant Rs. 200 million project. For a Rs. 5.195 billion project, which aims to build four sewage treatment facilities and sewerage lines near Rawal Lake, an additional Rs. 1 million has been set aside. The Punjab government will pay for this project with a third of the total funds, with the Capital Development Authority overseeing the project.
