Funds to Sindh IGP for Setting up Forensic Units in All Districts
Karachi: The Sindh High Court ordered the home secretary to furnish the inspector general of police with cash within a month to establish forensic units in each district of the province.

When the bench heard a criminal appeal, Keamari SSP-Investigation Anwar Khetran noted in a report that pursuant to the SHC’s ruling and with the assistance of the additional IG-Karachi, 10 forensic units/teams had been established in the Karachi division and six more were in the works.
The SSP argued that it would not be difficult to establish at least one unit in each district to investigate horrific crimes, but that this could not be done owing to a lack of money.
The court noted that the forensic units/teams established in the provincial capital must be trained and skilled in forensic sciences in order to assist in accomplishing the goals.

In addition, it stated that the chief secretary and health secretary will be summoned to court if its June 28 order was not carried out.
While adjourning the hearing until September 27, the bench also served notice on the advocate general of Sindh and directed the IGP to appoint a focal person to assist the court in the case in terms of police investigation.
