Rickety Roads Surge Cost of Production: Industrialists
Karachi: Despite funding for the Sindh government’s position being approved six months ago, the repair and rehabilitation work on roads and the revamping of the drainage system in the SITE area have not yet begun, which has worsened the state of infrastructure in the country’s main industrial hub.
On demand and in response to industrialist protest, the chief minister approved Rs1.037 billion in September 2020 for the aforementioned works in the SITE area.

Two of these roads were given to the KDA for rehabilitation, and the Karachi Mega City Project was responsible for building the other 17 roads.
The association chief stated that because the SITE area’s infrastructure had been completely destroyed, loaded truck and vehicle overturning incidents had become frequent, endangering both human lives and costing factories money.
Mr. Hadi urged the chief minister of Sindh to appoint the oversight committee in accordance with his pledge and to include a representative from the SITE Association of Industry to oversee the committee’s oversight of the uplift project’s quality.
