Rs 452.9 Million to Bridge Gurdwara Darbar Sahib
In its budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22, the federal government recommended allocating Rs452.910 million for the construction of a bridge at Zero line for the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor as part of the Public Sector Development Project on Friday (PSDP).

This bridge would connect the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to the Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in the Gurdaspur area of India.
The 420-meter-long bridge was an essential component of the Kartarpur Corridor. The construction of a bridge, however, was a point of contention between the two nations, each of which held its own position.
Pakistan insisted on the construction of a causeway as opposed to a bridge. However, India pressed for the construction of a full bridge since it would protect Indian settlements from flooding in the event of a Ravi overflow.

Notably, the allocation for the construction of the bridge is a portion of the Rs 493.849 allocated for three projects under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, including the construction of a boundary wall at the Hajj complex in Quetta at a cost of Rs 25.574 million and the construction of another Hajj complex in Lahore at a cost of Rs 15.365 million.
