Safa Gold Mall Owner, Four CDA Officials Sentenced to Jail
Islamabad’s accountability court sentenced the proprietor of F-7’s Safa Gold Mall and four Capital Development Authority (CDA) officers in relation to the mall’s F-7 expansion.

The court also convicted CDA officials Khalil Ahmed and Khadim Hussain and sentenced each of them to two years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000. However, the sentences for these two officials have already been served.
In accordance with subsection (b) of section 25 of the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), an accused may, during the pendency of an appeal, propose to return to NAB any assets or gains acquired in the course of or as a result of an offense.
NAB intervened in the case when the CDA board decided in 2017 to revoke the land allocated to Safa Gold Mall due to the construction of three unauthorized stories and other building plan violations.

According to the prosecution, the allotment letter specified that the floor-area ratio of the building would be 1:5, with 100 percent coverage, and that the number of storeys would be ground plus four, so capping the structure’s height.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) accused Rana Abdul Qayyum of conspiring with CDA officials to get illicit favors and unauthorized advantages, resulting in a loss of around Rs1.07 billion to the government.
