Samsung and LG’s New Phone Screens Will Save Battery Life
In order to increase the power efficiency of small to medium-sized OLED panels, Samsung and LG are reportedly developing a new low-refractive index Capping Layer (CPL) technology.
High-refractive index CPL is being used often in this business to reduce power consumption and improve light directionality. The addition of a low-refractive index CPL to the current high-refractive index version may increase light output, increase optical efficiency, and even lengthen the life of the device.

The incorporation of an additional layer may, however, bring manufacturing and financial challenges. Panel makers must convince smartphone makers like Samsung Electronics and Apple of the benefits of this new CPL before it can be introduced.
Low-refractive index CPL technology is being actively developed by a number of companies, including Dongjin Semichem, Hodogaya, LAPT, and PNH Tech. These businesses have started to deliver samples and work informally with panel producers. In the end, vendors will be chosen based on criteria like quality, price, and preexisting relationships.

According to Sammobile, LG and Samsung have both previously shown off their OLED technology improvements. Samsung introduced its Eco2 OLED panels last year, boasting improved power economy. These screens were then used in the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
However, some Samsung users, especially those who own flagship models, have recently complained about display issues, including the emergence of pink, green, and white lines on their screens.
