Saudi Arabia has announced a new rule for Hajj 2026, making the Nusuk Card compulsory for all pilgrims to access major religious locations during the pilgrimage.

According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, pilgrims will be required to show the Nusuk Card to enter the holy sites as well as the Grand Mosque. The step has been introduced to improve crowd control and better manage the large number of worshippers expected during Hajj.

The Nusuk Card is an official smart identification card issued to every registered pilgrim. It remains valid throughout the pilgrimage period, from arrival in Saudi Arabia until departure, and serves as the main document to verify a pilgrim’s identity and legal approval for Hajj.

Officials said the card offers more than simple identification. It contains personal details, medical information, accommodation records in Makkah, Madinah, and other holy sites, and is linked with each pilgrim’s approved service provider.

The card will also be used for transportation arrangements, including bus boarding and movement between holy sites, while helping pilgrims access welfare and support services during Hajj.

Authorities have instructed pilgrims to keep the card with them at all times. In case it is lost, a replacement can be requested through the service provider, the digital version can be used, or assistance can be obtained from a Nusuk Care Center or the official call center.

Saudi officials said the rule will be strictly implemented to improve safety, organization, and crowd management during Hajj 2026.
