SCA Demands Allocation of 50,000 Cusec at Sukkur Barrage
Hyderabad: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) has requested that 50,000 cusec be set aside at the Sukkur barrage during the Kharif season from the Indus River System Authority (Irsa).
It has sought the detention of irrigation personnel who are accountable for the theft of millions of dollars’ worth of Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) funding, the eviction of millions of people, and the destruction of standing crops during the previous growing season.

President of the SCA Miran Mohammad Shah presided over the meeting. It expressed gratitude to Sindh’s government and PPP leadership for announcing a Rs 2,000 support price for wheat harvest this year.
It voiced concern over the fact that just 20,000 cusec were available at Sukkur Barrage during the current Kharif season and noted that cotton sowing had begun in Sindh’s southern region and would be impacted by a water deficit.
The SCA encouraged the federal government to permit the export of tomato and onion harvests, the prices of which had significantly decreased on the local market.
