SHC Reverts Building-Plan Approval Authority to SBCA-HYD
Hyderabad: Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad and Justice Muhammad Saleem Jaseer, who make up the Hyderabad Circuit Bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC), have revoked the authority to approve building plans for homes to be built on 120 square yards.

Plots to the Regional Director of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA) in Hyderabad, according to news reports. The notification cancelling SBCA-authority Hyderabad’s to provide these approvals was put on hold by the bench.
The petition of a resident, who reportedly told the court that he is having problems receiving SBCA clearance for the layout plans of his 120 square yard house, reportedly moved the court. The rights have been given to the authority’s committee working in Karachi, the SBCA Hyderabad Regional Director said when the court ordered him to approve the plans.

In order to streamline the procedure, the Sindh government previously organised SBCA into six regional directorates. However, SBCA Director-General (DG) reversed the decision to give regional directors approval rights, leaving the regional directorate without any authority.
The court then summoned DG Shamsuddin Soomro to discuss the transfer of Karachi’s rights to approve 120 square yards of building plans and expressed its disapproval over the decision.
