SHOs Authorized to Utilize Budget in Police Stations
Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has designated all station house officers (SHOs) in the province as drawing and disbursing officials and given them the authority to use budget in police stations (DDO).
The chief minister of Punjab has authorized a proposal to change a police regulation by reclassifying SHOs as DDOs, and the province administration would submit the proposal to a cabinet committee for debate. The provincial government of Punjab has devolved drawing and disbursement authority to all SHOs.
The move occurred after the provincial police officer submitted a summary for CM Punjab stating that Prime Minister Imran Khan envisions the police organisation as operationally effective, financially independent, and service-oriented, given that police stations are the fundamental unit of service delivery where citizens have their initial contact with the state.
