Sialkot-Kharian Motorway Approved on PPP Basis
According to media sources, the Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) of Islamabad has approved the PKR 27.8 billion Sialkot-Kharian Motorway. According to provided information, the project entails the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) construction of a 69-kilometer, four-lane toll road.

In a meeting presided over by Planning Minister Asad Umar, the signing of the motorway project was approved. In a tweet, the minister revealed that the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway project is the first to be developed using an innovative funding framework provided by Viability Gap Funding (VGF).

In addition, it was announced that the freeway project will be constructed through a public-private partnership. Asad Umar further claimed that 1 trillion PKR worth of projects are in the works.
Prior to approving the bidders’ proposal in June, the board authorized the bidding documentation package and transaction structure in March.
