Sindh Asked to Rehabilitate Displaced Affectees in a Year
According to news sources, Pakistan’s Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the provincial government to rehabilitate those affected by the anti-encroachment campaign within one year.
On the second day of hearing the case concerning the rehabilitation of individuals affected by the city’s anti-encroachment campaign along three major Nullahs, the Supreme Court bench made the statements. The judge ordered the AG for Sindh, Salman Talibuddin, to give a progress report on the case within two weeks.
According to the counsel for the Sindh government, the government cannot begin the rehabilitation process since it requires a staggering PKR 10 billion in cash for the construction of 6,500 dwelling units. The Attorney General stated that the government lacks this sum of money and is awaiting the availability of funds.

According to the government representative, the administration will allocate the necessary finances during the following fiscal year. The advocate general stated during the previous day’s session that the Sindh government had already marked the site for the construction of housing units.
