Authorities in Sindh have stepped up enforcement against tenants and landlords who fail to complete mandatory registration, warning that violations may lead to arrests and possible imprisonment.
Under the latest measures, residing in a rented property without proper registration can result in legal action against both tenants and property owners. Officials said compliance with tenant registration laws is compulsory, and those ignoring the rules could face serious consequences.
As part of an ongoing crackdown on temporary residents, South Karachi District Police registered 39 cases and arrested 54 individuals. According to official figures, Saddar Police recorded the highest activity with 8 cases and 15 arrests. Clifton Police also registered 8 cases, resulting in 10 arrests, while Defence Police arrested 8 individuals.
Police authorities have emphasized that both landlords and tenants are equally responsible for ensuring registration is completed. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Mahzoor Ali said enforcement operations against unregistered residents and property owners will be further intensified in the coming days.
Authorities have urged all tenants and landlords to immediately fulfill registration requirements to avoid fines, arrests, or further legal proceedings.
