CM and Governor to Formalize Construction Ordinance 2021
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah met on Wednesday (December 8) in Karachi to discuss the regularization of the Sindh Construction Ordinance 2021. The Sindh government tasked the proposed regulation with legalizing and penalizing illegal buildings and housing schemes on state property.
The spokesperson for the Sindh government, Mr. Murtaza Wahab, reportedly stated that the Construction Ordinance of 2021 has been enacted to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. The dismantling and demolition of unlawful structures cause a housing crisis affecting millions of Karachi residents. After the conference, the Sindh government approached Pakistan’s Supreme Court (SC) for permission to constitute a committee.

A six-member panel led by a former Supreme Court or Sindh High Court (SHC) judge inspects and penalizes illegally built structures. The passing of the following ordinance, according to the Sindh government, would delay the destruction campaign of unlawful structures in the city.
