Sindh Govt Allocates Rs10bn for Sindh Safe City Project
In the budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024, the Sindh government announced a sizeable commitment of Rs 10 billion for the Sindh Safe City Karachi Project (Phase–I). Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, introduced the budget, which totaled Rs 2.2 trillion and included Rs 700.1 billion for development.
The chief minister made a point of allocating Rs 10 billion for the Sindh Safe Cities Project, with a particular emphasis on Karachi, during his budget speech. 4.5 billion rupees have been set aside from this total for the years 2023–2024.
To protect the safety of its citizens, Karachi’s security and surveillance infrastructure will be improved as part of the Sindh Safe Cities Project.

The project involves a number of initiatives, such as establishing a connection between Lyari and Gujjar Nala in Central, building a sea wall and road from Dolman Mall to China Port in Clifton, building a 6-lane motorway along Jinnah Bridge to Hawksbay, building a 2+2 lane subway at Karimabad District Central, and establishing campuses for public sector universities in Korangi, West, and Keamari.
The Sindh government has also suggested a 35 percent pay rise for employees in grades 1 through 16, and a 30 percent rise for officers in grades 17 and higher, in addition to the funding for the Sindh Safe Cities Project. In addition, the government has suggested raising the minimum salary to Rs35,550 and increasing pensions by 17.5%.
The government’s commitment to boosting security, raising public sector salaries, and advancing social welfare in the province of Sindh is reflected in these financial measures. The funding allotted for the Sindh Safe Cities Project is anticipated to make a big difference in the safety and wellbeing of the populace, especially in Karachi.
