Sindh Grants University Status to Government College Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Sindh recently upgraded Government College Hyderabad to a university level.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah decided to change the status of the university to the college and appointed Dr. Tayyaba Zarif as its vice-chancellor for a term of four years on regular terms and conditions, according to a notification issued by the Government of Sindh Universities and Boards Department.

Currently a Dean at Nawabshah University, Dr. Zarif formerly held the role of Acting Vice-Chancellor. Following completion of her MA in Education at Karachi University in 1998, she went on to complete her M.Phil. and Ph.D.
According to Asad Umar, the federal minister for planning, development, and special initiatives, a bill to establish a federal university in Hyderabad has been submitted to the National Assembly.
