Sindh to Convert 200 Buildings to Sustainable Solar Energy

According to news sources, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh stated his intention to convert 200 government buildings to solar energy in Karachi. During his inspection of a pilot project at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, he made the statement (JPMC).

The minister was joined by the country director of the World Bank, Najy Benhassine, and was welcomed by Dr. Seemi Jamali, the executive director of JPMC.

The JPMC project was supported by the World Bank to fulfil the hospital’s expanding energy needs. During his visit, the energy minister also announced the solarization of eight of the city’s major hospitals, including:

Civil Hospital
Liaquatabad Hospital
Orangi Hospital
Korangi Hospital
Lyari General Hospital
Ojha Hospital
The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD)

Previously, it was stated that the Energy Minister will open a one-day International Solar Energy Conference. Energy regulatory authorities, funding and grant organisations, as well as innovators and technology companies, will attend the energy conference. This conference is being organised by Energy Update, a Pakistani energy periodical that addresses the numerous opportunities and difficulties of Pakistan’s energy security.
