Sindh to Extend Uc-based Poverty Reduction Programme
Karachi: According to news reports, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah declared that the provincial government has planned a Union Council (UC)-based Poverty Reduction Programme (PRP) targeted at enhancing the quality of life for Sindhis.

According to him, the program will be put into action as a component of the Rural Support Programme (RSP), which has identified social groups that urgently require assistance. With a focus on empowering women, surveys were used to identify the households.
According to CM Murad, the RSP program was started in the Shikarpur and Kashmore districts in 2009 as a prototype project with a PKR 3.3 billion budget. The program was later extended to new districts in Jacobabad and Tharparkar with PKR 2 billion.

The project’s brief states that it will train and assist Up to 9,000 people will receive vocational training, and 10,000 people will receive assistance with kitchen gardening.
In addition, the Village Improvement Programme will support 103 union councils (UCs), and 71 company development groups will be established to offer a platform for more effective product promotion.
