Sindh to Finance PKR 6bn to Operationalize KCR Project
Karachi: According to media reports, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that the government will fund PKR 6 billion for the building work necessary to operationalize the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR).

The chief minister instructed railway officials to obtain federal government permission for the project’s PC-1 during a KCR review meeting. The minister has also instructed Pakistan Railway to finish the fencing along the KCR corridor.
The meeting was informed that two trains would be running on the 14 km of track connecting City Station and Orangi Station by February 10, 2021. Also, three buildings, including the KCR and an elevated 6.4 kilometre structure, will be constructed at a cost of PKR 11.508 billion by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The PKR 6 billion contribution from Sindh’s government.

The government was previously given a month to complete the PC-1 approval, work order release, and contract signing for the KCR project after the Supreme Court (SC) issued a directive in June. The three-judge bench of the Supreme Court ordered the government to make the money accessible so that the project may be finished as quickly as feasible.
