Skardu Airport Ready to Handle Int’l Flights
As the Civil Aviation Authority (CCA) of Pakistan has upgraded and developed Skardu Airport into an international airport, the airport in the middle of the country’s mountainous territory is now able to accommodate international flights.

CAA Director General Khaqan Murtaza informed the concerned officials that the airport is now equipped to handle any international incoming flight, as CAA has completed infrastructure and other installation related to immigration, etc. at the airport, which has been one of the busiest airports in the country this summer.
Earlier, the airport in Skardu was being renovated to international standards for international flights, and a second runway was being constructed to accommodate wide-body aircraft.
In an effort to increase domestic tourism, PIA set a record last month by landing six flights at Skardu airport in a single day, although the airport had only five landings each week in the previous.

According to a CAA official, the administration intends to enhance tourism in Gilgit, Skardu, and Chitral by utilizing large aircraft. It has already granted international airlines permission to operate in Skardu and Gilgit.
