Talha Talib, a weightlifter from Pakistan, shot to fame after defeating all odds to place fifth in the 67 kg weightlifting competition in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Talha managed to outperform expectations despite receiving little assistance from national authorities and almost missed a bronze medal by 2 kg.

Social media users praised Talha’s outstanding accomplishment and acknowledged the 21-year-hard old’s work. As Talha is one of just ten Pakistani athletes competing in this year’s Olympics, the public has begun to question the government’s failure to encourage other sports in the nation. Talha was praised as the nation’s hero despite all of the bad judgements made by the authorities.
