Shaukat Tarin, federal minister for finance and revenue, stated in Islamabad that Canada is one of Pakistan’s important development partners, emphasizing the need to improve business and economic ties between the two nations.

During a meeting with Canada’s High Commissioner for Pakistan, Wendy Gilmour, who called on him, the minister remarked that Pakistan’s ties with Canada were extensive and multifaceted.
The finance minister, extending a cordial welcome to the Canadian high commissioner, noted that Canada is home to a sizable Pakistani diaspora and that people-to-people ties are an integral part of bilateral relations.
He informed her on recent economic developments and initiatives, stating that enhancing revenue collection, expanding exports, raising remittances, and ensuring the sustainability of the energy sector were the current administration’s top concerns.

On this occasion, the high commissioner of Canada thanked the minister for his time and advised him that the Canadian business community saw significant investment possibilities in Pakistan’s wind power generation, power transmission networks, and mining industry.
She claimed that support from the government in these areas will entice Canadian investors to establish enterprises in Pakistan.
