Thar Plants to Add 660 MW to National Grid This Year
Karachi: On Wednesday, it was disclosed to the Parliamentary Committee on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that 660 megawatts of coal power produced by Thar coal power plants would be added to the national grid this year.
The Parliamentary Committee on CPEC met in the Sindh Secretariat to review CPEC projects in Sindh, and Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, the chief secretary of Sindh, stated that Thar coal had the capacity to supply all of the nation’s energy demands.

He claimed that there was a saying that Thar will transform Pakistan’s fortune because it produced electricity more affordably than any other power producing initiatives in the nation.
He claimed that the 1,500-acre Dhabeji Special Economic Zone was another significant initiative that would house enterprises. An significant CPEC project that would enhance exports and manufacturing was the Dhabeji Economic Zone.
The prompt completion of the CPEC projects was in the interest of the country, according to Sher Ali Arbab, chairman of the parliamentary committee.
The parliamentary committee also determined that they will visit Thar shortly and complimented the work the Sindh government had put into the CPEC projects.
