U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that American representatives would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening for negotiations with Iran. He also warned that Washington could target Iranian infrastructure if Tehran rejects what he called a “fair and reasonable” deal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the upcoming talks come after reported ceasefire violations near the Strait of Hormuz, where shipping disruptions have continued despite earlier reports that the waterway would reopen.

“We’re offering a very fair and reasonable deal,” Trump wrote, adding that failure to reach an agreement could lead the United States to strike Iranian power plants and bridges.

Iran announced on Saturday that it would keep the Strait of Hormuz closed after Washington signaled that its naval blockade would remain in place, reversing an earlier indication that the major oil transit route might reopen.

Trump also accused Iran of firing at vessels near the strait in what he described as a ceasefire violation. He claimed that shots were fired at several ships, including one linked to France and another from Britain.

Meanwhile, security was tightened across Islamabad ahead of the expected talks. Authorities introduced road closures and traffic restrictions in parts of the capital and neighboring Rawalpindi.

Checkpoints were also established near major hotels commonly used for diplomatic meetings, including Islamabad Marriott Hotel and Serena Hotel Islamabad. Roads leading to Serena Hotel were blocked with barricades and barbed wire, while extra security personnel were deployed in the area.

Pakistan has previously hosted talks between the United States and Iran. Earlier rounds of discussions ended without a final agreement but made limited progress on issues such as nuclear terms and future shipping arrangements through the Strait of Hormuz.
