Urban Regeneration Board to be Developed in Various Cities
According to a news article, the Ministry of Housing and Works and the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) want to establish an Urban Regeneration Board (URB) to manage state land in many cities, including Islamabad.

Details indicate that the proposed URB will consist of fourteen members and will be led by the housing secretary. According to the draft of the Urban Regeneration and Redevelopment Act-2021, the board will have the jurisdiction to carry out “clearing, development, regeneration, and redevelopment of state properties in numerous cities.” The board will have the authority to lease, sublease, sell, and issue licenses to occupy or utilize land on behalf of the government.

Copies of the document were also provided to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and provincial governments. According to FGEHA Director of Planning Rizwan-ur-Rehman, the proposed board will make decisions about land and property in various cities. In response to the topic of who owns government-owned properties in CDA areas, the director replied that they would collaborate with the civic agency to resolve the matter. Instead of big government buildings, they plan to construct vertically.
