US Vice President JD Vance made a lighthearted remark during the US-Iran peace talks in Switzerland, saying that two of the most important people in his life are an Indian and a Pakistani.
Speaking at the high-level discussions in Bürgenstock, Vance joked, “I have two very, very important people in my life. An Indian and a Pakistani. The Indian is my wife, and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Munir.”
The comment drew attention for blending personal humor with diplomacy, as Vance referenced both his Indian-American wife and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

While delivered in a humorous tone, the remark comes against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions between India and Pakistan, a topic Vance has addressed in the past.
Earlier in 2025, the US Vice President stated that any potential conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors would be “fundamentally none of America’s business,” emphasizing Washington’s preference for restraint and diplomatic engagement.
His latest comments appeared to underscore personal connections while maintaining a balanced stance on the complex relationship between South Asia’s two largest rivals.
