Attock Refinery Limited has temporarily closed its main crude distillation unit, which has a processing capacity of 32,400 barrels per day, after an unexpected disruption in oil tanker movement created operational difficulties.
In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company said tanker traffic to and from the refinery was suspended due to traffic restrictions linked to the expected arrival of foreign delegates in Islamabad.
The road closures affected both crude oil deliveries and the dispatch of refined petroleum products, putting pressure on refinery operations.
According to the company:
- Crude oil inflows dropped sharply
- Movement of refined products was restricted
- Stocks of Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel rose due to dispatch delays
Because of these constraints, Attock Refinery said it has temporarily shut down its primary crude unit, HBU I, until traffic conditions improve and normal transport routes resume.
The shutdown has raised concerns about potential fuel supply pressure if disruptions continue.
