WASA Rawalpindi Surpasses Revenue Target for FY 2020-21
According to news reports, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Vice Chairman (VC) Haroon Kamal Hashmi stated that the agency had exceeded its revenue collection goal for fiscal year 2020-21. The agency has collected PKR 475 million, a PKR 105 million increase over its PKR 370 million collection goal.

In a meeting, WASA VC Hashmi disclosed the information and stated that the organization will continue to work diligently to recover PKR 500 million in the current fiscal year. To this purpose, he authorized city officials to initiate a crackdown on water bill defaulters throughout the city.
In addition, he prohibited the appropriate ministries from issuing No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to private housing schemes until their delinquent accounts are settled. In this regard, the WASA magistrate indicated that summonses had been issued to the delinquents in an effort to obtain payment.

In addition, WASA representatives informed the meeting attendees about the city’s current projects, such as the Kehkashan Water Supply Scheme, under which nine tube wells have been erected to provide clean drinking water to Adiala Road’s 300,000 residents.
In the subsequent two months, the project will begin providing potable water to residents. According to authorities, WASA will also publish bids for 20 other projects while the prequalification process for companies continues.
