WASA to Construct Two More Rainwater Harvesting Tanks in Lahore
Lahore: According to a news report, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has decided to start building two rainwater collecting projects at various locations throughout the province capital in the upcoming month.

On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar, the aforementioned project is being carried out with the goal of preserving significant amounts of rainwater and using it for watering plants, parks, and other irrigation needs.
Two further projects are now being launched: one at Kashmir Road (near LDA Plaza) and the other outside Sheranwala Gate Circular Road. Earlier, a project of a similar nature had been inaugurated at Lawrence Road.

The aforementioned tanks are being built at a cost of PKR 240 million and will have a storage capacity of 1.2 and 1.5 million gallons, respectively.
According to reports, WASA has already finished the feasibility studies for these projects and will shortly release a request for proposals for the building work.
Eight other locations in the city will be identified for similar improvements in the upcoming year, according to WASA sources. The aforementioned projects are being launched in phases.
Additionally, it was believed that these initiatives will aid in reducing urban floods during monsoon seasons in the province capital.
