WASA to Take Back PKR 1.5 Billion Dues from Housing Societies
Thursday, December 16 in Lahore, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) reported that private and cooperative housing schemes owed PKR 1.5 billion for agency services. The defaulter list contains seventy-four home developments, the majority of which are located on Multan Road and Raiwind Road.

According to the study, enterprises that utilize WASA-managed wastewater and sewage will be forced by law to pay service fees. However, commercial and cooperative housing associations have failed to pay payments totaling Rs 1.7 billion, of which Rs 260 million are still outstanding. Following is a breakdown of the outstanding balance.
- Currently, 33 private housing societies connected to the WASA sewerage system are owed a total of PKR 999 million.
- 344 million Pakistani rupees are owed to 19 cooperative housing societies connected to the WASA sewerage system.
- 18 cooperative housing societies connected to WASA’s Satto Katla Drain are owed PKR 354 million.
- 55.4 million Pakistani rupees are owed for four private housing projects connected to WASA’s Satto Katla Drain.

WASA’s managing director (MD), Syed Zahid Aziz, informed the media that the agency has created a strategy to collect overdue payments. After the initial warnings and suggestions, WASA will cooperate with the Metropolitan Planning Wing to stop approving maps from these delinquent businesses.
