WB Advised to Fund Housing Sector’s Promotion in Pakistan
Islamabad: According to press sources, Federal Minister for Financing and Revenue Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin met with World Bank Country Director (WBCD) Najy Benhassine on Wednesday to examine the possibility of increased funding for housing finance in the country.

During the aforementioned meeting, which was convened to analyse challenges in the housing business, a World Bank representative presented proposed loan facilities for “different actions in the housing sector totaling USD 290 million.”
In addition, he affirmed that the World Bank firmly supports the government in developing the housing sector, particularly low-cost housing schemes.
In addition, the finance minister expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s assistance and emphasised that the housing sector remains a government priority. He underlined the significance of the housing industry to economic expansion as a whole.

Mr. Tarin further urged the necessary authorities to finalise all planned World Bank financing details and activities within a few days.
