WB to Support Punjab Improve Access to Affordable Housing
Islamabad: According to public news sources, the World Bank (WB) has declared that it will support the Punjab government’s efforts to increase access to affordable housing and help develop a comprehensive strategy to this end.
According to the specifics, the World Bank will assist the Punjab government in aligning the ‘Punjab Affordable Housing Programme’ with the ‘New Pakistan Housing Programme’ in order to coordinate better both initiatives and leverage federal resources that will be available for interventions in Punjab.
In addition, the technical assistance the World Bank provides will strengthen institutions, promote policy reforms, and increase the efficacy and efficiency of the housing supply. The project evaluation will begin the following month, and it is anticipated that the executive board will authorize finance in February.

Reportedly, the Punjab government requested the World Bank’s support in establishing an affordable housing project to provide low-income people with housing. The project’s entire cost is USD 200 million.
