Weekly Flights to Saudi Arabia Have Been Increased by PIA
Rawalpindi: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has extended its flights to Saudi Arabia from 33 to 48 after receiving clearance from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (Gaca) of Saudi Arabia.
With the assistance of Ambassador Bilal Akbar, National Flag Carrier (NFC) obtained authority to operate extra flights to Saudi Arabia, according to a PIA spokesperson. Jan Mohammad Meher (country manager for PIA) met with officers of the Saudi Arabian Gaca and received their formal clearance.
The reason for conducting additional flights was to compensate workers and passengers previously restricted by covid-19 and facilitate their travel. In addition, the spokesperson stated that there would be eight flights to Dammam, eight to Madina, nine to Riyadh, and twenty-three to Jeddah.
Mr. Malik stated that PIA makes every effort to ensure the comfort of its passengers. If further flights are required, approval will be obtained from the Saudi government. In addition, he acknowledged and praised Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, General Bilal Akbar, for his assistance in securing more flights.

In addition, Fly Dubai has requested approval from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) to conduct flights into and out of Skardu. It was encouraging that PIA has filed an appeal for the authorization of flights into and out of Skardu.
The spokesperson stated that the PCCA director-general and his staff worked so hard to upgrade Skardu Airport, which will be a game-changer for the country’s tourism promotion.
In the meantime, the PCCA spokesman announced in a tweet that Skardu airport would become an international airport on December 2, 2021, in order to promote tourism. The flight will comply with Visual Flight Rules (VRF).
