On 1st February, PTA imposed a temporary 48-hour restriction on Wikipedia and asked that the world’s largest free encyclopedia erase “illegal” content in accordance with government directives. Along with the interim block, PTA stated that the block will become permanent if demands are not met.

Wikipedia did not alter the information, and on February 3rd, Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects were fully prohibited in Pakistan.
