Work From Home Announced for Offices in Islamabad’s Red Zone

The federal government has directed employees working in ministries, divisions, and other institutions located in Islamabad’s Red Zone to work from home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on June 22, the decision has been taken in view of the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan.

The work-from-home directive applies only to government offices situated within the Red Zone. However, several key institutions will continue to operate from their respective offices.

These include the Cabinet Division, Federal Board of Revenue, Finance Division, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industries and Production, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Development, Revenue Division, Prime Minister’s Office, as well as the National Assembly and Senate.

Autonomous bodies and attached departments located within the Red Zone will remain closed for the day.

The notification further states that officers and secretarial staff under the directive must remain available at their designated locations and be prepared to report to the office at short notice if required.

The order does not apply to banks, which will continue normal operations.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on an official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation including ministers and senior officials.
