161MW 8 Hydro Power Projects Completed in KP
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan presided over a meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Energy and Power Department, at which he was informed that the province has completed eight different hydro power projects with a total capacity of 161MW, which are expected to generate annual revenue of Rs 3,98 billion.

Similarly, five schemes totaling 3.12 MW have been built under the solar project, resulting in annual savings of Rs 86 million. Seven further hydro power projects with a total capacity of 232MW and seven solar power projects with a total capacity of 43MW are currently under construction. These initiatives are anticipated to yield 9 billion rupees in yearly revenue and 865 million rupees in annual savings, respectively.
The authorities reported that 2,323 masajids in the province had been solarized, and that under the initiative, a total of 4,000 masajids would be converted to solar systems. Similarly, 8000 schools were also being solarized in the province, with 3000 schools having already been completed.

The Chief Minister, pleased with the performance of the Energy Department, asked the concerned quarters to produce a workable operational plan for operating finished tiny micro hydel power stations and to ensure local community engagement for the better management of the hydel power stations.
