3,000 Kanal of Barren Land to be Cultivated
Sher Afzal Raja, the District Range Forest Officer (extension) for the Punjab Forest Department, stated that about 3,000 kanals of arid land would be farmed as part of the Green Pakistan Programme.

He stated that the Forest Department was covering all costs associated with the resettlement of farmers’ barren land, and that the district range forest office had designated the property that would be made fruitful and verdant.
He noted that 5,000 hectares of similar land had been rendered productive by the forest department’s planting of saplings.
During the monsoon season, up to 800,000 more saplings of various kinds would be planted in the Chakwal range with the active participation of locals as part of the Plant for Pakistan program.

He stated that the Chakwal Forest Department has planted woods across a large expanse of arid territory.
A team planted 5,000 trees in a single day at Akhuwat College in Chakwal, he said, adding that both male and female students participated in the effort.
