7 Hydel 232 MW Energy Projects and 9 Ongoing Grid Stations in KP
Wednesday, December 8th, Naeem Khan, Chief Engineer of Khaybar Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development, announced in Peshawar that the provincial government is constructing seven hydroelectric projects producing 232 megawatts of power and nine grid stations in merged districts.

Here are the seven hydroelectric projects:
- 11.8 MW Carora hydel project
- 10.2 MW Jabori Hydel project
- 6.5 MW Brando hydel project
- 10.5 MW Chapri Charkhel project
- 69 MW hydroelectric project of Lavi
- 40.8 MW Koto hydro-electric project
- 84 MW clean energy Mittaltan hydel project

According to sources, the three continuing major hydroelectric projects are the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower Project, financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the 157 MW Madin Swat and 88 MW Gabral Kalam hydropower plants supported by the World Bank (WB). In addition, the government has established a unique Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid Company to address electricity distribution and grid management.
