Syed Hussain Jehanian Gardezi, the agriculture minister in Lahore, reports that the government has chosen to quadruple the funding for the sector’s growth plan.

He was summarizing the Friday discussion of agriculture in the Punjab Assembly.
He said that nine new government initiatives had been started to advance the industry, and that other agricultural seeds were also being produced with higher quality.
He lamented that the current administration had reactivated and mobilized the Punjab Agriculture Board, which had been dormant under the previous administration.

He said that a new canal was being built to increase water availability between Jhelum and Khushab, and that the Thal canal project, which would put hundreds of thousands more acres under agriculture, was also almost finished.
