Canada to Speed up Visa Process for Pakistani Businessmen
Leslie Scanlon, the Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, promised Syed Naveed Qamar, the Minister of Commerce, on Wednesday that the Canadian government is striving to further simplify and expedite the visa application process for the Pakistani business community.

The minister of commerce urged for greater ease in the granting of visas to the business community for participation in exhibitions and other business events, particularly for upcoming exhibitions in Canada like SIAL Canada, the largest food innovation trade show in North America, according to APP. The envoy met with the minister to discuss ways to improve trade ties between the two countries.
The minister also expressed appreciation for the planned Canadian General Preferential Tariff (GPT+) program for developing nations and stated the hope that Pakistan’s launch of the GPT+ program would be more advantageous to newly suggested industries like garments and footwear.

He hoped that Canada would also take into account integrating more textile-related industries in the suggested plan. The minister also recognized that Pakistan’s exports to Canada were greater than its imports, favoring Pakistan’s trade balance.
