CDA Clears Dues to Get Water Supply from Rawal Dam
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has paid the Small Dam Organization (SDO) the remaining Rs 32 million, which would end the dispute over the flow of two million gallons of water per day (mgd) of water to Islamabad from Rawal Dam.
The SDO had been insisting that the CDA pay the Rs 32 million owed before reinstating the two mgd supply from the dam.

The SDO will supply the CDA with two mgd of raw water, which the latter will treat at its treatment facility before distributing to the sectors, according to CDA officials.
The Rawal Dam supplies all of Rawalpindi’s water requirements. Up to the 1990s, the CDA received two to four mgd, but afterwards the supply was stopped.
However, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed made the decision to have the water restored last year. The panel took up the problem and instructed the parties to resolve it because Islamabad was running out of water.

Officials from both organisations recently visited the water reservoir together, and the CDA sent the SDO a draught agreement as part of that visit, according to CDA officials.
