ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken action against a housing society in Islamabad over alleged violations involving land reserved for public amenities.
According to official information, the CDA issued a show-cause notice after alleging that plots originally designated for schools, parks, open spaces, cemeteries and other public facilities were converted into residential and commercial plots without the authority’s approval.
CDA Orders Restoration of Approved Layout
The authority has directed the housing society to restore the original approved layout plan within 30 days.
The CDA has also imposed a fine of more than Rs. 77 million over the reported planning violations and instructed the society’s management to submit a written response within seven days.
Officials warned that failure to comply could result in further legal action, including demolition of unauthorised structures, sealing of offices, suspension of approvals, recovery of enforcement costs and referral of the matter to relevant investigative agencies.

The development highlights the importance of verifying the legal status and approved layout of a housing scheme before purchasing property.
Property buyers are advised to confirm that a housing project has the required approvals and that the plot they intend to purchase is not located on land designated for schools, parks, cemeteries, roads or other public amenities.
The CDA’s latest action also reinforces the need for investors to conduct proper property due diligence rather than relying solely on advertisements or promotional claims.
As regulatory authorities continue monitoring housing schemes for planning violations, buyers and investors are encouraged to check official records and approvals before committing funds to a property.
