The Chairman CDA, Mr. Noorul Amin Mengal, tweeted the news, stating that “an agreement with NRTC for the operation of the new 200 electric buses on 13 routes in Islamabad is in the final stages.” Under the agreement, NRTC is required to begin providing services within 90 days. According to the information that has been exchanged, an agreement will shortly be signed by the parties, and the CDA will then issue a new request for proposals.

The 13 routes include those that go from Police Foundation/Orange Line Station to Red Line Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station in I-8, from Allama Iqbal Station to Red Line Potohar Station, from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to Secretariat, from D-12 to G-10, from F-11 to Red Line F-8 Station, from G-11 to Pims, from Aabpara to Tramri Chowk, from Nilor to Khanna Pul, from Pirwa.

Those who had been protesting that there was no bus service available for Peshawar Mor (Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station) to the airport after 10 pm were addressed by the decision to introduce new buses. Before 10 p.m., people can now board the metro bus from Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station to N-5 G.T. Road; following that, a shuttle will take them to the airport. The metro bus service from Peshawar Mor to G.T. Road stops after 10 p.m., despite the fact that the airport shuttle service runs around-the-clock. The CDA authorities have acknowledged that equipment is being set up to run the bus service continuously.
