CDA to Start Action Against Non-Conforming Use of Farmhouses
After notifying the owners of more than 200 farmhouses of the improper use of the land, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) took no further action.

Sources said that in the past two months, civil authorities have issued notices warning farm owners to produce agricultural products under their agreement.
A building controls inspector said more than 200 notices had been issued to landlords and showed notices of cause had been sent to about 100 tenants.

According to CDA filings, 605 vegetable, fruit and poultry farms are said to grow fruit and vegetables to meet the needs of the city’s residents. But most of these farms have been turned into lavish homes by their owners. In the 1970s, when the CDA began allocating farms, the allowed indoor space was 2,500 square feet, officials said. But over time, the CDA continued to grow in size, and now 9,500 square feet of covered area is legally permitted plus 3,000 square feet. with fines.

When contacted, CDA Planning and Estate member Naveed Ilahi said the civil service has decided to take action against the violators.
