Sindh CM: Construction of Dhabeji SEZ to Start Early Next Year
According to news reports, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (CM) for Investment Department and Public-Private Partnership, has revealed that building of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will begin early next year in Karachi.
During the press conference, the CM’s aide noted that Dhabeji SEZ is a priority project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s industrial cooperation phase (CPEC).
According to reports, the Dhabeji project was anticipated to generate USD 1 billion in investment and 100,000 jobs. The bidding procedure has been completed in compliance with the Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA) Rules, as reported by Special Assistant Qamar.
In addition, the CM’s aide stated that the developer will be responsible for providing utilities and infrastructure and operating and maintaining the SEZ.

The provincial government will provide direct access to both the National Highway and Port Qasim in an effort to develop Dhabeji into an important commercial and economic powerhouse. It was reported that the federal and provincial governments were willing to spend about PKR 12 billion to establish a conducive environment in terms of infrastructure and services.
