Construction of Hospitals for Workers Approved in Punjab
At the 150th meeting of the governing body of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, Punjab Minister for Labour Ansar Majeed Khan gave permission to build hospitals for workers and their families in Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Taunsa.

At a cost of Rs 80 million, a 50-bed hospital would be built in Sargodha, a 25-bed hospital would be built in Taunsa, and a Rs 17 million hospital would be built in Millat Town, Faisalabad. More than 238,000 workers and their families will be able to get medical care once these hospitals are built.
The board agreed to spend Rs 16 million to give registered workers computerized social security cards that will help them get medical and financial services. It was decided to hire new people to fill more than 660 empty positions.

It was approved to call the promotion board to promote more than 3,000 employees right away over the next three months and to start an amnesty/self-assessment programme for private businesses.
In the meeting, the requirement that workers get a referral from a nearby dispensary was taken away to make things easier for them. Patients will now be able to go to the right hospital for care without a referral. The minister said that a plan to help businesses and save Rs 5.5 billion had been put in place.
