Construction Work on IJP Road Likely to Start Soon
In accordance with the authority’s comprehensive policy regarding the improvement of the road infrastructure in Islamabad, the CDA management has instructed the relevant formations to expedite the groundwork for the I.J Principal Road widening and rehabilitation project.
According to a press statement issued on Wednesday, Chairman CDA directed Member Engineering, Director General Works, Director Roads South, NESPAK consultants, and NLC to visit I.J Principal Road to inspect the construction work.
Under the proposal, two rigid and two flexible lanes would be erected on each side of the IJP Road, along with two flyovers, one at 9th Avenue and the other at Faqeer Appe Road.
Likewise, two bridges would be built in Katarian and Pirwadhi, respectively. The project was anticipated to be finished in 18 months at the cost of Rs. 4.9 billion.

The project was conceived by the authority’s incumbent management, its technical requirements have been met, a consultant has been appointed, and work has begun.
In addition to improving the city’s traffic management system, the restoration of IJP route would facilitate interprovincial and Rawalpindi-to-Islamabad-and-back traffic.
